NSW: Sydney rents are on the up NCOSS says
The Council of Social Services in NSW says renters are hurting in the Olympic city.
Yesterday NSW Fair Trading Minister JOHN WATKINS said the Games weren't causing a blowout
in Sydney rents.
Mr WATKINS cited a September 1999 independent quarterly report showing little or no
rent hikes for existing properties.
But NCOSS director GARY MOORE says the minister chose to exclude premium rents from
new or significantly renovated dwellings, from the equation.
