Fed: $5.8m in grants to child abuse prevention groups

The federal government has dispersed nearly $6 million in grants to 41 child abuse
prevention groups across Australia.

Community Services Minister LARRY ANTHONY says the Early Intervention Parenting Projects
will provide a variety of vital support services over two years.

He says about $600,000 of the $5.8 million package will help the National Association
for the Prevention of Child Abuse to continue its renowned work in the area of child abuse
prevention.

Among the benefits to be provided will be parenting courses, home visits by professionals
and volunteers, establishment of play groups, outreach services and family support.
