Fed: Coonan imposes CDMA licence condition on Telstra
The federal government says it'll impose a new licence condition on Telstra .. preventing
it closing the CDMA mobile phone network in the bush .. until it's proved the new Next
G network is up to scratch.
Communications Minister HELEN COONAN says Telstra has 30 days to comment.
Senator COONAN says she's proposing the condition .. after receiving complaints from
people about drop-outs and coverage difficulties from Next G.
She says Telstra originally planned to have Next G ready for performance audits this
month .. but that's been delayed until at least October.
